How to file 21-4140
When to use this form
The VA sends this to you annually if you receive TDIU benefits. You must complete and return it to continue receiving TDIU payments.
You'll need to provide
- ✓Current employment status
- ✓Any income earned in the past 12 months
- ✓Whether you have started or stopped working
- ✕Not returning the form — the VA may reduce your TDIU benefits
- ✕Not reporting marginal employment (even small amounts of income)

This form is mailed to you by the VA. Complete it and return it by the deadline on the form.
Pro Tip
Return this promptly when you receive it. Marginal employment (earning below the poverty threshold) does not disqualify you from TDIU.
